The Qur'an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad in the year 639 AD, in the city of Makkah. At that time, the prophet was in the middle of preaching, and the people of the city were in a state of shock and awe in response to what they heard. The prophet was so impressed by the quality of the book that he ordered everyone to give it to his followers, and even ordered them to pray to God to grant the people wisdom, so that they would understand the message.

It is written in the Arabic language, which is spoken by over 30 million people in over 100 countries. It is also one of the most translated books in the world, with over 140 translations.

The Qur'an is divided into chapters, which are then divided into verses. A verse is a piece of poetry that contains a line.
